I recently started watching Battlestar Galactica after hearing some co-workers excitedly talk about it at work. By the time we watched 2 or 3 episodes (the first of which was a 4-hour miniseries) of it at lunchtimes, I started watching it on the internet at home. I don’t think I’ve become addicted to a tv series this quickly before. It’s taken up most of my spare time. Where I used to read, I watch Battlestar, Where I used to game, Battelstar. Guitar? Galactica.

I wish I’d started watching this back when it aired so I could have made the same journey my fellow co-workers have made over the past few years, but at the same time it’s good because I don’t have to wait a week to watch each “new” episode.

I’m currently half-way through season 2, and I can’t wait to catch up so I can watch the final few episodes live when everyone else does.

So say we all.

I’ve started watching Star Trek: The Original Series in order to be adequately prepared for the release of the new Star Trek movie coming out next year. I’ve never really watched an episode of Star Trek before this, and have always sided with the Star Wars geeks rather than the Trekkies, but it wasn’t as bad as the lightsaber wielding, Lucas-hating, wookie-wannabes made it out to be. I especially thought it was going to be a less-than-enjoyable experience because it was made in the late 60s, and I have seen particularily bad scenes that have been passed around on the internet. Nevertheless, I found most of the stories entertaining and the “late-60s-motif” charming in a way.

When i first saw the trailer for the new Star Trek movie I thought the actor for Spock (the guy who plays Slyer in Heroes) was going to be hard to take seriously, but after watching some of The Original Series I find he actually looks quite similar to young Leonard Nimoy. I AM, however, going to be making Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz references whenever Scotty is on screen.

I hope they throw a Tribbles reference into the new movie.
